This high-quality stone cast of Shakyamuni--otherwise known as Siddhartha Gautama or simply the Buddha, quietly meditating. The founder of Buddhism, Shakyamuni is said to have meditated in this position for 40 days under the Bodhi tree before attaining enlightenment.
Seated in the double lotus position with his left hand resting in in his lap, symbolizes peace of mind, concentration, and inner balance. The right hand posed in the 'Varada Mudra' position, This gesture characterizes the gift, the welcome, the offering and signifies compassion, charity, and sincerity and is symbolic of giving and forgiveness.
